Science, preservation and purpose

Two technologies solving real problems

KeepCool develops and manufactures technologies that improve food preservation, extend shelf life and reduce losses during storage, transport and distribution.

Our story did not begin with a technology, but with two real problems that needed a solution.

Preserving fruit, vegetables and flowers more effectively.

The origins of KeepCool and BIOethylene

KeepCool was founded in 2015 with a clear objective: to preserve fruit and vegetable products for longer and maintain their quality from origin to point of sale.

Ethylene continues to accelerate ripening even after harvest. Controlling its concentration provides more time, preserves products more effectively and reduces losses throughout the logistics chain.

This first challenge led to BIOethylene: our proprietary technology for controlling ethylene during storage, transport and distribution.

Ethylene control.
Longer shelf life.
Fewer product losses
Protection throughout the chain.
Controlling ethylene provides more time at every stage of the food supply chain

A personal concern opened up a new path.

The origins of BIOgermicide

It all began with a personal need.

Juan José Caravaca, founder and CEO of KeepCool, faced a situation that changed his understanding of air quality: a close family member needed to remain in an exceptionally clean and controlled environment to protect their health.

That personal concern became a technological challenge: developing a system capable of treating the air continuously, safely and effectively.

From healthcare to the food industry.

After years of research and improvement, a technology based on advanced filtration, UV-C light and airborne microbial control was developed.

During the pandemic, an independent laboratory validated it against the SARS-CoV-2 strain. KeepCool subsequently adapted it for cold rooms, processing areas and other food industry environments.

This led to BIOgermicide: a technology designed to reduce airborne microbial load and improve food preservation through continuous microbial control of the air.

Two technologies. One shared purpose.

BIOethylene and BIOgermicide address different problems, but share the same approach to preservation: proprietary technology, continuous protection and proven results under real-world conditions.

BIOethylene

Ethylene control
Helps delay ripening and extend the shelf life of fruit, vegetables and flowers during storage, transport and distribution.

BIOgermicide

Airborne microbial control
Continuously reduces airborne microbial load in cold rooms, processing areas and storage facilities.

Proprietary technology

Research and development
We design and manufacture our solutions in Spain using proprietary, patented developments that evolve through research and continuous improvement.

Real-world validation

From the laboratory to industry
We test and evaluate our technologies with laboratories, research centres and companies to verify their performance in real-world environments.

Protecting what matters.

Protecting food also means protecting the resources used to produce it, the work carried out throughout the chain and the product’s commercial value.

This is the purpose connecting our history with our future: helping to build a safer, more efficient and more sustainable food industry.

Save costs by reducing waste throughout the food supply chain

We turn better preservation into measurable impact.
